Mouse Issues

Well, I know I haven't posted in a few days, but I have been busy with mouse problems!  It all started about a week ago when I went into the spare bedroom where I kept my clothes.  My clothes had been lying on the bed that was in the room because the closet was gross and I didn't want to put my clothes in there.  That Monday, I had gone into the spare bedroom to get a shirt, and I had noticed that there was thread laying around my clothes, and the shirt I was looking at HAD A HOLE IN IT! I instantly got mad and was ready to poison some mice!!!  I instantly started moving all of my clothes from the spare bedroom into the normal room because those dang things were EATING MY CLOTHES!!!  During my move, I found a few other items that the mice had decided to eat, including my pants that I had just bought a few weeks back!! UGHHHH! I moved all of my clothes and found that the mice had been storing their poison pellets I had been feeding them under all of my clothes!!  Stupid things! I thought I was killing them because all of the poison was disappearing, but instead they decided to mess with me and hide it! This was the breaking point for me.  All of the stuff in that room was going to be moved and I was going to take care of this mouse problem!

When I was in Aberdeen that day, I stopped at Menards to buy a plug-in mouse repeller.  This plug-in plugs into the wall and sends off a very high pitched noise that only mice can hear.  This sends them insane and gets them out of your house.  So I instantly buy 2.  One to put in the living room, and one in the bedroom.  A few days after plugging these in, ALL of the poison I had set out was gone.  Like the poison plates had been licked gone!  Alright, so I was thinking that this was a good sign! It was working!

A few days later, I was at Runnings getting Josie dog food and I decided to step foot in the mice aisle.  I ended up buying another plug-in repeller and more poison.  This new plug-in was one that sends a signal throughout the entire house.  It goes through the wiring in the walls to get the mice out of the walls.  I get home, plug this thing in, set out my poison pellets and wait watch some mice die! Well that did and did not happen.  Tonight I opened up the silverware drawer to find mouse chew marks on a plastic spoon. I looked at Logan and said you have got to be kidding me!!!  I pulled out all of the silverware and utensils I want to use and set them on the counter to be washed and put away somewhere else that is MOUSE PROOF!!!  UGH! I decided I am going to buy a 3 drawer container to put all of my silverware in! (TAKE THAT MICE!)

But that was not the end of my night!! I decided to update my blog with this story, and so I was went to take a few pictures to upload with this story.  I walked into the spare bedroom where my clothes used to be and guess what! A DEAD mouse! Laying on the floor, knocked out cold! BOOYAH! Another mouse down! Only a questionable amount left to go......

My solution to this problem is to a) get a snake, b) burn the house down, or c) make a movie like Mouse Hunt so I can get millions to GET OUT OF HERE!!

This is the room where my stuff was at (with the dead mouse on the floor if you look hard...its kind of like wheres Waldo)

And where it is now:

And here is the one mouse I poisoned!

Farm Girl Tip # 56: If you have mice in your house, move all of your clothes so they can't eat them.

Farm Girl Tip # 57: You will probably go broke buying things to get rid of mice, but you have to be smarter than the mouse! (Which can be really hard!!!)

Well folks, the time has come again for ME to make ear tags for the cows! Logan had gotten all of the ear tags, and I had to get the ink marker because he forgot! As I was getting ready to go to school for the day, Logan said don't let me forget that WE have to make tags tonight.  I said, Ok, put the marker on the table so we don't forget.  I got home that night, and on the table I see two different colors of ear tags and the ink marker.  After supper Logan says, will you make my ear tags for me? HMMM--I asked him what I get for making the tags.  He came up with nothing, but I did it anyways! (I am such a nice girl!!) I suggested that I see a few pink ear tags out there for me making his ear tags.  I think next time I have to make ear tags, I will buy myself a pink ear tag and just make one of my own!!

Here are a few pictures from the tag festivities!

Like I said, there should be a pink one in this pile!!
P.S. Your welcome Roger! :)

Farm Girl Tip #55: Always make ear tags because you will get your way someday!! (A pink ear tag) And do it because you have better handwriting and it makes the cows look good!!

Finishing Up

Well, harvest is almost over but I did get to ride along for one last time this year.  I got to ride in the Pete back and forth to town to dump grain.  Here are a few pictures from my adventures.

Then, as the grain cart was giving us a load to go to town, I look out my window and see a coon hanging out from a box in the grain cart.  I look at Logan who is outside, and point.  He just shakes his head.  Ok. So when he gets in the truck I ask him why there is a coon hanging out on the tractor.  He tells me they shot some the other day and there is some guy that takes the coons for their fur or something so they have to keep them.  Ok- Only on the farm!!

And finally, to end my day, Logan and I took a few Christmas pictures with our dog in the field.  Here is a little sneak peek.  She hated every minute of wearing this bow!!

(Isn't she cute?!)

Farm Girl Tip #54: When harvest is coming to a close, go out for one last ride because you have to wait a year to do it again!
