Wow! It has been awhile since I have last posted! It has been a busy summer so far with not much happening with this farm girl but work and summer classes. BUT today was a day with some farm action!
I had gone outside to get ready to mow the lawn. I went in the shed with the lawn mower and tried to start it. It wouldn't start, so I figured it needed gas. I walked outside over to the water spicket where the gas can was. As I was going to pick up the can, I see a little snake creeping around over by the hoses. I scream and run away. BUT then I realize that if I don't kill this thing, I will see it again for the rest of the summer. So I grab Josie--my dog--to kill it. She doesn't do a dang thing, just looks at me. UGHHHH! I run over to the shed and grab my gardening shovel. I run back over to where the snake was and sure enough he is still there hiding under the hose. I get him out and start chasing him with the shovel, smacking the ground to get it. The snake goes full force to get away from me, but he's too slow. I chop him up with the shovel until he is dead! Megan=1, Snake =0
I honestly have no clue where this snake killing came from! I have been SOO scared of snakes for my entire life. So scared that when I used to mow the lawn at home, if I saw one I would stand on the lawn mower seat and scream. Chet or the dogs would have to come out and kill it. Or if I was walking and saw one on the ground I would scream and run full force the other direction. Like I said, I have NO CLUE where this came from!!
Farm Girl Tip #35: Even if you are deathly afraid of snakes, like me, if you see one, kill it so you will never have to see it again!
